Proteomics Laboratory

Proteins can be identified by trypsin digestion and analysis of peptides by LC/MS/MS. Samples can be bands or spots from 1D or 2D gel electrophoresis or solutions of moderate complexity. Expression analysis can be done using ProteoIQ software to compare samples. Pathways analysis can be done to identifity biological processes and relationships. Analysis of protein translational modifications PTMs can also be done.





  • Bio-Plex 200 system ( Bead array reader )

    "The Bio-Plex® 200 system is a suspension array system which offers protein and nucleic acid researchers a reliable multiplex assay solution that permits analysis of up to 100 biomolecules in a single sample."

  • EXQuest automatted spot cutter ( Spot cutter )

    "Gel excision instrument, includes enclosure, imaging system, fluidics system, robotics, sensors, cutting head, gel tray, microplate track, wash station."

  • LTQ ion trap mass spectrometer ( Ion trap mass spectrometer )

    "Thermo Scientific LTQ XL high performance linear ion trap delivers more structural information than any other ion trap mass spectrometer. LTQ XL is the only mass spectrometer that offers multiple dissociation techniques, PQD, ETD and CID. Pulsed Q Collision Induced Dissociation (PQD) is a proprietary technique that eliminates the low mass cut-off concern inherent with all ion traps. This results in extensive coverage for predicted and unpredicted metabolites, and the ability to perform peptide quantification using iTRAQ* labels.     Use of Luminex instrument for multi-analytic detection. The Bio-Plex and Miliplex Assay services are offered by the Proteomics core.

  • Protein identification ( Material analysis service )

    "Surface enhanced laser desorption ionization (SELDI) can be used in several different kinds of applications which include, but are not limited to:

    1. Protein profiling and Biomarker discovery.
    2. Protein-Protein interactions.
    3. Protein-Nucleic acid interactions.
    4. Identification of proteins by tryptic digest.
    5. Determination of the protein properties prior to purification."
